Shaed Bloodgrave was born over ten thousand years ago, in a gothic reality known as All Hallow's Eve. He and his twin brother, named Whyspur, were born to a human woman, possibly a harlot, and a being known as the Harvester, a demon of death. Due to their half-demonic parentage, both Shaed and Whyspur possessed an immortal lifespan and an incredibly fast healing factor, as well as superhuman endurance and stamina, though weapons blessed by a priest would prove to be their weakness.

Through the Harvester's influence, he placed the twins within All Hallow's Eve's hierarchy, making Whyspur the land's lord with Shaed as a duke. But the brothers' differences were obvious to say the least; Shaed was an accomplished fighter while Whyspur was a practitioner of dark magicks, and while Shaed was a noble, honorable champion for the people, Whyspur was an evil, tyrannical emperor, though the one thing both brother could find common ground on was their love for Whyspur's daughter, Shaed's niece... the beautiful princess Teim Bloodgrave.

But one day, two thousand years after the twins were born, an ancient prophecy was discovered to the brothers Bloodgrave by a lich seer; a child borne of demonic lineage would possess an innocent soul, and with the aid of her protector, she would overthrow the highest throne and part the dark clouds to let alight the sun. Whyspur quickly surmised that Teim was the prophesied "Light Bringer" and Shaed her protector, and his megalomania reared its ugly head as he had Shaed immediately incarcerated, and arranged for his execution. But then, Teim pleaded to her father to spare his brother's life, and due to his genuine love for her, the pleas did not fall upon deaf ears. Instead, Whyspur exiled Shaed from All Hallow's Eve to another dimension, to a world that was known simply as Earth.

Shaed would not simply admit defeat, however. Even in exile, Shaed had a goal in mind; to return to All Hallow's Eve one day and to fulfill the Prophecy of the Light-Bringer with his niece. And he had decided that he wouldn't be able to that as he was then, so he became a wanderer of the world, helping those in need and punishing those whoever guilty. Along his travels, he learned of various martial arts all over the world, and like a sponge he absorbed all there was to learn of these fighting styles, incorporating them into his own arsenal of moves, and in time, he would assimilate every one of those martial arts into a single, fluid fighting style that Shaed would dub as "Kurohijitsu," or the art of the black flame. Also, due to his immortality and his superhuman endurance and stamina, he would come to be known as "The Revenant," named after a seemingly unstoppable undead monster. And in the course of his time on Earth, his charm, in addition to his handsome features, would win him the affections of several women, some of which would give birth to offspring who would inherit some of all of his supernatural power; two of his more notable progeny would be his psychopathic son Ryokami and his courageous great-granddaughter, "The Black Widow" Oseiko Kurotsuki. But eventually, Shaed would settle down with a wife, finding and falling in love with the succubus-turned-goddess Morrigan Aensland.

Eventually, near the end of the 20th Century, and with the help of Morrigan's newfound goddess-borne powers over dimensional gateways, Shaed would return to All Hallow's Eve and fight to overthrow his evil twin brother for his niece. The two brothers clashed in mortal combat, and in climatic fashion, Shaed would ultimately slay Whyspur, thus paving the way for Teim's bright and innocent soul to part the dark skies over All Hallow's Eve.

His destiny fulfilled, Shaed decided to break into the world of professional wrestling to wind down from the danger and high adventure. And so he had created the Knight Cross... a gothically-themed stable, it consisted of quite the ensemble collection; a sixteen year old Black Widow, then an eager genin kunoichi fresh out of her hidden village... the tag team of Scorpion's Pyre, comprised of the wraith-like Sasori Shirono and a gender-swapped version of Kane known as Kaye... a mummy-like entity dressed to resemble Chris Kanyon's past gimmick of Mortis... an eight year old child named Ariel Bridges who was resurrected from her grave by the combined efforts of Morrigan and Mortis... and of course, Morrigan, Lilith, and Shaed as the leader. For a short time, they had appeared in the now-defunct IWF, where Oseiko had made history by becoming its first female Cruiserweight champion. But eventually, the Knight Cross had come to the EAW, where Shaed had become its first World Champion. But as with all things, the Knight Cross had went its separate ways, something that Shaed had expected, wanting those he considered as a second family to find their own paths, their own successes. And Shaed left the EAW, seemingly dropping off the face of the map.

Recently though, Shaed had made a return to the EAW, not as an active competitor, but as its vice president, bringing with him the beautiful vampire Scheris Locke, the skeletal Corse, and the nightmarish Tausend. Claiming that he was now a demigod, he had reluctantly declared that he had retired from fighting, stating that he had reached a point where no mere mortal could ever hope to defeat him now; with no ego detected, he had claimed that he had become so skilled in combat that he had become unbeatable, and for a man who had relished the thrill of competition, it was a decidedly terrific emotional blow. Shaed still remains on the sidelines in the EAW as it's vice president, occasionally giving out advice to those who seek it, especially to his great granddaughter, Oseiko.
